We are Hunter Locksmiths. We are based in Edmonton and East London is a short run for us, down the A406 or across through Walthamstow.
Cars and vans, all day. Lost car keys, keys that will not turn, immobiliser faults and vehicles that will not open. Any hour, any day of the week.
Vans Are Half The Job Out Here
The estates along the A13, the yards around Barking and Dagenham, the units off Lea Bridge Road. East London runs on working vehicles, and a van that will not open on a Monday morning is not an inconvenience, it is a day gone and sometimes a cancelled job on top.
So we carry blanks and programming kit rather than ordering parts in and coming back tomorrow. That Sunday job is the normal way we work, not a favour we did once. We also fit deadlocks and slam locks, which around here is worth doing before something happens rather than after.
The Other Half Is Car Parks
East London has more of them than almost anywhere. Westfield Stratford swallows thousands of cars a day. The Central line stations out through Leytonstone, Wanstead and South Woodford fill at seven in the morning with cars nobody touches for ten hours, which is long enough for a tired fob to finish dying.
When you ring from one, the level and the bay number are worth more to us than the postcode.
What It Costs
A replacement car key with the programming is usually £200 to £250. That is not a number we invented for the website, it is the band our own customers pick when they leave a review, and they tick “reasonable price” next to it.
It shifts with the make, model and year, because a flip key with a blade is a different job from a proximity key. Ring with the registration or send a photo of the key and you get the price first.
No call out fee, no evening rate, nothing added at the end. One customer told us other places had quoted double. Another was quoted over £180 elsewhere for a Toyota remote key. We are not doing anything clever, we just have no call centre to pay for.
Two Ways To Do It
If the car still drives and you can get it to us, bring it to the stall in the Asda car park in Edmonton. Leave it, go and do something else, pick it up done. That is the cheaper option.
If the keys are locked in or the car will not start, we come to you. Costs a bit more, because somebody is driving out and staying with your vehicle.
East London is one part of our patch. We work right across North London and out past Chigwell and Loughton into Essex.
