We are Hunter Locksmiths, a mobile auto locksmith covering Ilford and the surrounding IG postcodes, from Gants Hill and Barkingside across to Seven Kings and Goodmayes.
Cars and vans are what we do rather than a sideline to house locks. Lost car keys, keys that will not turn, immobiliser and keyless faults and vehicles that will not open are what our vans are equipped for, seven days a week and at any hour.
What Ilford Calls Look Like
Ilford has more cars per household than most of East London, and a lot of them are family cars doing school runs, shift work and long weekday mileage. That mix produces two kinds of call. The first is wear: barrels that have been stiff for months, fobs on their third battery, keys dropped one too many times. The second is the car park, whether that is the Exchange, the supermarkets off Roden Street or the parades along the High Road.
The Elizabeth line changed the commuter pattern here as well. Ilford and Seven Kings stations now fill earlier and empty later, so cars sit untouched for ten or eleven hours. That is long enough for a weak fob to die, and people come back in the dark to a car that will not respond to anything.
Gants Hill and Barkingside give us the residential work, usually driveway lockouts and keys locked in boots. Goodmayes and Chadwell Heath lean more towards vans, with trades running out of the yards off the A12 and the Green Lane estates, so van keys come up regularly.
Ilford is part of our wider East London coverage, and we are out through Essex regularly too, so Romford and Chigwell sit on the same run.
