We are Hunter Locksmiths, an auto locksmith working out of Edmonton, which is a couple of miles up the road. Tottenham is one of our most regular patches.
Car and van keys are the main job rather than a sideline. Lost car keys, keys that will not turn, immobiliser faults and cars that will not open are what our vans are equipped for, at any hour of the day.
The Calls We Get Around N17
Tottenham Hale is the big one. The retail park and the station car park are full of cars left for the day, and a fob that worked at eight in the morning will sometimes refuse to do anything at six in the evening. That is usually a battery or a programming fault, and both get sorted at the car.
Then there are matchdays. When Tottenham Hotspur are at home, the roads around the High Road and Northumberland Park fill up completely, and people park further out than they meant to. Keys get lost in the crowd, and the car is sitting somewhere unfamiliar. We know those streets and where a van can get in and out.
There is also a lot of older stock on the road around Bruce Grove and Seven Sisters, and older cars mean worn ignition barrels. A key that has been getting stiff for weeks tends to fail properly at the worst moment, and ignition repairs are a big part of what we do here.
Tottenham sits inside our wider North London coverage, so we also cover Seven Sisters, Bruce Grove and Northumberland Park.
