Why Muswell Hill Is Different
No tube and steep hills mean a household here usually runs two cars, often newer ones with keyless entry. Keyless is convenient right up until the moment the car stops recognising the key, and then it is completely stuck. That is a programming or immobiliser problem rather than a mechanical one, and it gets fixed on the driveway.
The Broadway is the other regular call. Parking there is short stay and busy, people are in and out with shopping, and keys end up locked in the boot more often than anywhere else nearby. Alexandra Palace and Highgate Wood generate their own version, where keys go missing on a walk and do not come back.
We also get called out to the roads off Fortis Green and Colney Hatch Lane, where cars sit on the street overnight and a fob that has been getting weaker finally gives up in the cold.
