High Barnet is the end of the Northern line, so its car park fills every weekday with cars that sit untouched for ten hours or more. That is long enough for a fob battery that was already weak to die completely, and for a tired ignition barrel to finally stop turning. Both are sorted where the car is standing.
The Spires and the roads off Barnet High Street are the other regular call. Parking is busy and short stay, so keys get locked in while people are loading shopping, and a car blocking a tight car park aisle cannot just be left there.
Barnet Hospital generates its own version, usually at the worst possible time. Visitors and staff park for long shifts, come out in the dark, and find the car will not respond. We can be there and have a new key cut and programmed without the car moving.
